Wanderer
The Wanderer is a light merchant starship with the ability to make surface landings on worlds.  They are often employed by smaller shipping firms and a number of independent operators.  As their cargo holds have only a fraction of a Connestoga’s capacity, they are often consigned to lesser trade routes where a larger ship could not operate at full capacity in order to make a profit.  Wanderers normally have a purely defensive armament, though there have been dozens of starships that have been “upgraded” with larger power plants and main drives, and augmented with hull armor and a more powerful suite of weapons.  These ships are generically known as Corsairs, and are then used as smugglers, blockade runners, and as pirate vessels.  Naturally all of these improvements come at the cost of cargo capacity.  Wanderers are a common sight in Sagittarius, since there are few major trade routes to support larger merchants.
