Starjammer
The Starjammer is a free trader design that has become quite popular since its introduction in 2350.  The Starjammer foregoes streamlining as well as landers to maximize cargo capacity in a small hull, meaning that it must transfer cargo from orbital facilities at both the point of origin and the destination.  The ship is armored and armed with both a point defense laser and a Class 1 laser system for self protection, and can sustain 1.0 G accelerations in Combat Mode thrust.  The military grade HEPLAR drive, while quite expensive on a small merchant,  allows it to enjoy high delta-vee ratings to get cargoes to their destinations in less time than a traditional merchant.  The Starjammer's utility as a small, fast, and well protected merchant has led to its wide-spread subsidizing by various governments as part of their merchant marine reserves, and these subsidies have allowed even its modest price tag of $90 million to be within the range of an independent free trader.
