The
Sagittarius Arm
The Orion Arm - which contains the Earth's solar system - is bounded by two other spiral arms. The Perseus Arm is located in the rimward direction of the galaxy from the Orion Arm, and the Sagittarius Arm is located in the coreward direction from Orion. The Sagittarius Arm is roughly 3000 light-years from the Sol System, and is filled with hundreds of millions of stars, great nebulae and walls of dust and gas, and unbeknownst to humanity until its arrival, teeming with intelligent life. The principal
celestial structures important to the area are the Lagoon and
Triffid
Nebulae.
