Horseclaw
Average Values
STR: 7 Carry: 28 kg unencumbered,
350 kg maximum, as if STR: 14
A genemod chimera animal created by Biosynth in 2150 as an offworld riding and labor animal and sometime food source.  Based on the ostrich, golden eagle, horse, and chicken genomes, the Horseclaw stands over 2 meters tall on two bird legs, has large but flightless wings on the flanks, and a large and vaguely chicken-like head with a powerful and sharp beak.  Horseclaws have been modified to have Tolerant Biochemistries and Optimized Metabolisms, and can tolerate free fall and spin-gravity better than most large animals.  They have intelligence approximate to a horse or dog. Horseclaws lay between 2 and 4 eggs every 45 days, which hatch within 30 days.  A typical Horseclaw can live about 12 years in good health.  They were inspired by the works of Information Age manga-ka and filmmaker Hayao Miyazki and by popular videogames of the era.

Horseclaws are typically golden yellow in color, but white, silver, black, and rust colors are also possible.

Hoop Snake
Average Values
STR: 2
Carry: N/A
The Hoop Snake, or Ourobouros as it is also known, is an indigenous snake like predator of the planet Aquilla in the SAG+56 0107 System.  They can grow to be almost three meters in length, though most are between 1.2 and 1.5 meters in length.

The Hoop Snake propels itself along the grassy savannas of Aquilla by whipping its body into the air for forward momentum, gripping the end of its beady, rough tail in its mouth, and then rolling end over end like a hoop or wheel.  Peristaltic muscle action along its body maintains forward motion where the body comes into contact with the ground.

The Hoop Snake has a line of sensory organs along both sides of its body that sense thermal gradients, and are linked to neural ganglia located near every fifth spinal segment.  These neural ganglia help process information collected by the thermal senses and translate it into range, speed, and bearing information for catching prey.  When the Hoop Snake finds a suitable prey animal within six to eight meters, it will uncoil and fling itself at the target with the aim of entangling the animal and getting a sufficient hold upon it that the Hoop Snake may inflict a venomous bite.  The Hoop Snake will typically disengage after a successful strike, then trail the bitten animal until the poison brings it down.  The Hoop Snake will then attempt to swallow the prey animal whole and digest it.

Hoop Snakes are aggressive animals, and are known to attack targets much larger than they could hope to consume.  This has made them a dangerous pest on Aquilla, as Horseclaws and their riders fall victim to Hoop Snake attacks, and landowners are permitted to kill them on sight within the area of their land grant.  Cuisine from the Hoop Snake is a common delicacy on Aquilla, as are any Hoop Snake eggs that can be found.

Land Vaeter
(Indigenous to Midgard)
Average Values
STR: 6
Carry: N/A
This warm-blooded reptilian predator native to the planet Midgard in the HD+54 1018 System is a bipedal animal similar to an ancient Earth Allosaur or other raptor type dinosaur.  They stand roughly 1.4 meters tall on their hinglegs, and mass about 50 kilograms.  They appear to be pack hunters, stalking prey and selecting the most available target, then cutting it off from the rest of the herd and bringing it down with powerful biting attacks before finishing it off on the ground.

Little is known about these animals, which are only known to have been encountered on the coastal lowlands of the southwestern tip of the major continent.  They appear to be fairly intelligent and patient hunters, even possibly using a vocal form of communication amongst the pack.  Famous illustrator and naturalist Alina Murry has studied these animals with her colleague Dr. Ai Tanaka, and these two represent the foremost experts on the Land Vaeter at this time.

Sea Dragon (Indigenous to Pu'uhonua)
Average Values
STR: Variable
Carry: N/A
This cold-blooded aquatic reptilian predator native to the planet Pu'uhonua in the HD+35 2017 System is a deadly menace to those who hunt and fish in the open sea away from the continental shelf.  Little is known of these creatures at this time, other than they appear to hunt in small family groups of 3 to 5.  Their teeth are razor sharp and appear to be hardened with a natural boron-carbide ceramic that allows them to tear apart prey and penetrate the thick shells of Aloha Turtles.  The Sea Dragon secretes a viscous and quite venomous neurotoxic saliva as they bite.  Anything that a Sea Dragon cannot kill immediately and swallow whole in its jaws will be torn apart and consumed at leisure once the prey is dead from the poison.  While they prefer aquatic prey, they have been known to attack boaters and fishermen without warning.

Young Sea Dragons measure approximately 2 meters in length and about 10 centimeters in diameter.  They have STR 5, a KV of 50, and a natural armor PF of 5. The
bite attack is a PEN 24, DC 3 stabbing attack - soft armor gets no damage reduction and has its PF halved.  A successful bite inflicts a S14/D50/R10 poison attack - a successful health save reduces damage to 25 PD that round.

Adolescent Sea Dragons measure approximately 3 to 4 meters in length and about 20 centimeters in diameter.  They have STR 6, a KV of 100, and a natural armor PF of 5.  The bite attack is a PEN 24, DC 4 stabbing attack -
soft armor gets no damage reduction and has its PF halved.  A successful bite inflicts a S14/D50/R10 poison attack - a successful health save reduces damage to 25 PD that round.

Mature Sea Dragons measure from 5 to 8 meters in length and up to 40 centimeters in diameter.  They have STR 7, a KV of 200, and a natural armor PF of 10.  The bite attack is a PEN 30, DC 5 stabbing attack - soft armor gets no damage reduction and has its PF halved.  A successful bite inflicts a S16/D50/R10 poison attack - a successful health save reduces damage to 25 PD that round.  Victim must make a REF save at Average (12) or be dragged underwater by the sea dragon.

Venerable Sea Dragons measure up to 15 meters in length and 75 centimeters in diameter.  They have STR from 8 to 10 depending on size, a KV of 300, and a natural armor PF of 15.  The bite attack is a PEN 36, DC 6 stabbing attack - soft armor gets no damage reduction and has its PF halved.  A successful bite inflicts a S12/D50/R10 poison attack - a successful health save reduces damage to 25 PD that round.  Victim must make a REF save at Difficult (14) or be dragged underwater by the sea dragon.
